FAQ
Q. Do you offer online sessions?
A. Yes, I currently offer both in-person and telehealth sessions. Clients engaged in telehealth sessions must be in New York state at the time of the session.
Q. Do you accept insurance?
A. I’m currently not able to accept any new clients in-network with insurance. For new clients, I work exclusively as an out-of-network provider. Not working directly with insurance companies allows me to offer care that is more flexible, private, and tailored to your needs rather than to insurance requirements. Insurance plans often require a mental health diagnosis, limit the number or frequency of sessions, or request detailed treatment information. By remaining out-of-network for new clients, I’m able to protect your confidentiality, work at the pace that feels right for you, and shape treatment around your goals.
If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance may reimburse a portion of session costs. I can provide monthly statements (superbills) for you to submit for potential reimbursement.
Q. What does therapy cost?
A. My fee is $225 for a 50-minute session. If you have out-of-network mental health benefits, your insurance provider may reimburse a portion of the session fee, which can significantly reduce your overall cost. In that case, you would pay for sessions upfront and submit the monthly statements (superbills) I provide to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
If you’re unsure whether you have out-of-network benefits, I’m happy to guide you on what questions to ask your insurance provider.
Q. Do you offer a sliding scale?
A. Yes. I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients who need financial flexibility. My goal is to make therapy as accessible and affordable as possible while still providing high-quality, consistent care. If you’re interested in discussing a reduced fee, please feel free to contact me directly and we can talk through the available options.
Q. How often will we meet?
A. Session frequency depends on your needs, goals, and what feels most supportive for you. Most clients come once a week, which provides a steady rhythm for the work. At times, meeting more frequently can be helpful, and in other situations (usually after being in therapy for some time), less frequent sessions may be more appropriate. We can adjust the pace as needed.
I’m aware that your time, energy, and finances are factors we must consider. We’ll collaborate throughout our work to find a frequency that feels sustainable and ensures you’re getting the support you need.
Q. Can I meet you before deciding to start therapy?
A. I offer a consultation call where we talk about what brings you to therapy and your history with therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a sense of whether my approach feels like a good fit.
Q. What can I expect in the first session?
A. In our first session, we’ll take a few minutes to review your paperwork and go over basic logistics so that expectations are clear and we both have a shared understanding of how we’ll work together. From there, the first couple of sessions usually focus on taking a thorough history. Because this approach considers the ways early experiences and relationships can shape current patterns, it’s helpful for me to understand the broader context of your life.
At the same time, our pace is flexible. If you’re coming in with something more immediate that needs attention, or if a different focus would feel more supportive, we can postpone the history-taking and start wherever you need.
Q. How long do I stay in therapy?
A. The length of therapy varies from person to person. It depends on your goals, your history, the concerns you’re bringing in, and what feels most supportive for you. Some people come with a specific issue they’d like to address in a more short-term way, and that’s often possible. Others are seeking deeper, more transformative work—work that involves shifting long-held patterns and building new neural pathways—which naturally takes more time.
What matters most is that we approach the process collaboratively. Throughout our work, we’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy feels helpful, meaningful, and aligned with what you need. Ultimately, the pace and length of therapy are shaped by what feels right for you.
